Beat Freak to Pussycat Doll

Rino of Beat Freaks is joining the new line up of the Pussycat Dolls. I'm sure I'll spend 90% of their future performances trying to see her simply crush routines. Also I remember thinking Rino was a Harajuku girl but I let some fool talk me out of think it. Congratulations Rino! Anyways much love to Blogging America's Best Dance Crew for shedding the light per usual. Check out their post here. Since you're hear peep Rino working it out to "Sensitivity" by Ralph Tresvant. Find the original video here.

Asia Nitollano (Pussycat Doll) Dancing Back To The Knicks

Asia Nitollano, winner of The Pussycat Dolls Presents: The Search For The Next Doll, is dancing her way back to the NY Knicks. Asia is one of the 30 semifinalists for the 2009-2010 Knicks City Dancers. Shane Sparks from America's Best Dance Crew and So You Think You Can Dance was one of the judges.

Asia needs your help...Make sure your favorite KCD Top 30 finalist is still in the game after training camp - cast your Knicks City Dancers Immunity Vote now! This isn't the first time Asia has danced for the New York NBA team. She was on the squad before getting selected for the reality show.

She was my pick to win the Pussycat Dolls reality show. I really wanted to see her perform with the group. When it came out that she wasn't joining the Dolls, many of us were upset and confused. Asia was the one that decided to turn down the opportunity to join the Pussycat Dolls in order to pursue a solo career. She signed a record deal with The Inc. (Irv Gotti's record label). I was introduced to Asia a couple years ago thru PR guru Marvet Britto at the BET Awards. She was a very sweet person. I hope things work out with her singing career. Please support Asia by voting!!

Remember Popstars

I was watching Sabrina The Teenage Witch last weekend. Yeah...it was a slow day. Anyway they show an episode that had Eden's Crush, at the time they were called the Popstars, performing on the show. The all girl group was made up of Nicole Scherzinger, Rosanna Tavarez, Ivette Sosa, Maile Misajon and Ana Maria Lombo. Thanks Wikipedia!

This was a great flashback because I watched every episode of Popstars. For those who can't remember that far back...it was the talent reality show before American Idol and Making the Band. It was wild looking at Nicole Scherzinger (Pre-Pussycat Dolls) perform. If only the show would have had enough foresight to make her a solo artist. But its starting to look like she does better in a group setting. Another member of the group was Rosanna Tavarez.
She is currently a host on the TV Guide channel. I'm so use to seeing Rosanna as a host, it was odd seeing her sing again. I still have the Eden's Crush CD somewhere in storage. It was a good album!!

I started watching all the videos on YouTube and the first clip I watched was this one from the show Popstars. It's of Nicole's audition to get on the show. I wonder what happen to the girl she beat out for the spot on the show?

Turbo-Charged Brat Dolls

Girlicious and Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin made an appearance on The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch. She talks about creating a hit music group, seeing opportunity and pushing through obstacles that would have stopped others.

The girls from Girlicious are there and Donny referred to them as being Turbo-Charged Brat Dolls. Not far from the truth! Don't get me wrong, I love Robin Antin as a business women. She is very smart and talented. I love the way she is building the brand she created. I even like aspects of Girlicious...I just think they could take it down a notch. The focus is too much on the styling...or just too much styling.
I feel like they are losing some really good things about each girl. I hope they can find a way to get the best of both worlds from Girlicious.

Hot Slutty Mess

I hope Girlicious is all you wanted it to be. There is the video for their single Stupid Shit. Honestly, I hate the fact that they look like porn stars. All the girl are naturally beautiful. Why would you drown them in makeup and hair? Then have them strip down to their underwear in the street. The girls CAN SING...let their talent show...NOT their ass.

I was hoping they would take it down a notch since they will be marketing it to 12 year-olds. Check out the video and let me know what you think about it.

4 is the new 3?

Last night was the finale of Girlicious! We already spoiled the ending, but I had to tune in anyway. The five girls had individual meetings with Robin and Ron Fair to discuss their concerns with being/meshing in a group. A test that only Charyle failed. She was the only one that admitted having concerns- a way to NOT get chosen for a group! Meanwhile Natalie was jealous of Robin's and Mikey's love for Tiffany. The girls performed "Lady's Night" together, and then each girl did a solo performance.

I think Tiffany did "Natural Woman"- Aretha Franklin. Charyle did "Before He Cheats"- Carrie Underwood. Nichole peformed "Giving Him Something He Can Feel"- En Vogue. Natalie had "Say It Right"- Nelly Furtado. Then Chrystina closed with "What About Love"- Heart. Vocally, I preferred Nichole's solo over the rest. Although, Natalie seriously milked "Say It Right" for all it was worth. She should be thankful they gave her a song that doesn't require any kind of range, just true vocal style. So she tossed her hair, pouted the lips, and gave it what she got.

In the end, Charyle was sent home due to not wanting to the dream enough to deal with Natalie and Chrystina. They also showed the video "Like Me" which is their first single. Smart choice having a Jazzy Pha song as the first single. His name and ad libs won't overshadow the group, like say Lil' Jon, T-Pain, or Timbaland. I like it better than the song they recorded on the show. What do you think? This song and video are now available on iTunes, along with another track titled, "Stupid Shit."

Girlicious... it's still on

I was so wrapped up with the anticlimactic Mariah Carey performance on American Idol that I forgot about Girlicious. I'm sick of I-miss-my-dead-friend ballads. It's the Great Depression of my life time and I just want to dance, music industry.

Anyways, on Girlicious the girls had to perform two songs as a 5 person group.
Natalie won the Public Image challenge, but there was no immunity this week. Instead her sound bite/intro will air on Extra... people still watch that show? All the girls made an attempt to put their differences aside except for Charyle. I need her to get it together because I want her in the group. Their performances were actually pretty good. I felt that Ron Fair's critiques were on point. The girls did show that they have real potential. Natalie did step up vocally, but Nichole and Tiffany have tones and vocal qualities that stand out and are hard to fake. Robin would be letting a good thing go by not choosing them. Unfortunately Charyle and Chrystina are too similar. They are direct competition. Since everyone stepped up- no one was sent home, but there is a internet rumor that 4 girls are chosen. I guess the finale is next week... I mean it's not like the show hasn't been jumping all over the time slots.

Yes, Girlicious Is STILL Airing

This week the girls of Girlicious were tested on Star Quality. Robin split the girls into two groups to sing old school songs, but what she meant to say was traditional burlesque-ish songs. You can't say old school unless Salt-n-Pepa applies, Robin! Chrystina, Tiffany, and Charyle were given Thirteen Men. Natalie, Nichole, and Carrie were given Sway. Chrystina was moping all over the place because she sees Charyle as the judges favorite and nemesis. Chrystina and Natalie were so distraught over their conflict with Charyle that they claim they could not be in a group with her. Blah blah blah, but why did they take a bath together to relax? Is that what 18 to 20 year girls do in 2008? I'd stick with the EZ Bake oven, especially over sharing nasty bath water with somebody else. If you like bubbles so much- blow them, don't bathe in them!

The immunity challenge was to shoot a video for the single, which Charyle won. Rightfully so, she killed it and Chrystina let the girl out shine her. In the end, Chrystina got her act together. Natalie should have rehearsed more instead of sharing the tub, but Carrie was sent home. Robin cried when she sent her home. Therefore, she may pop up at a Pussycat Lounge near you. If the final group isn't Charyle, Tiffany, and Nichole, then Robin should just admit defeat in the reality show gig.

Girlicious, not Divalicious

This week's theme for the girls of Girlicious was Vocal Expression. Robin wanted the girls to show that they have true diva potential. Kenn Hicks, the vocal coach, sang an opera song that touched Charyle and brought out some old issues and homesickness. Soon after, Charyle disappointed Robin and Mikey in the dance studio by fucking up the routine. Jenna made some chocolicious food and rambled about how she isn't fat and she eats healthy (when she can) blah blah blah you know where that went. Whatever Jenna. Eat the chocolate and just be damn proud of it. Hell I would roll around in it just to piss the other girls off, but it didn't help she had a big ass zit in the scene she was pigging out in. In rehearsal a cracking-under-pressure and insecure Natalie walked out on Kenn, and he wasn't having her diva-tude. So she got schooled and apologized to everyone. Chrystina was given the opening lead over Carrie because Kenn wanted to challenge her.

The immunity challenge was a session in the studio with Ron Fair to record over a Don Corleon produced track.
I wasn't really feeling the song. Hopefully they will reconsider it as a first single, or maybe the full version is better. Nicole of PCD came in to give some advice and looked overwhelmed and ran out as soon as Robin gave her an out. Miss Jenna was feeling herself! While collaborating with Ron she actually said (with his advice) she sounded more "bomb-er"... WHAT!? Natalie impressed Ron. Charyle cracked in the studio, but Tiffany won the challenge. Go dark skinned girl! Charyle won the extra hour of vocal training with Kenn out of pity. If she put her emotions of missing her late Father in the song, she would be on top. At sound check, the lack of vocal personality caught up to Chrystina and the lead was switched to Carrie.

Nichole, Charyle, Jenna, and Natalie sang Destiny Child's cover of "
Emotions." Carrie, Chrystina, and Tiffany sang "What A Feeling" from the movie Flashdance. Charyle stepped up, and Ron Fair called Tiffany his Jennifer Hudson. However, Lil Kim feels she can get a little over-the-top. The judges were disappointed that Chrystina didn't kill her B-string part, but it was the low energy Jenna that was sent home.

Who Is Girlicious Sexy??

This week the theme is Sexiness. You would think this would be an easy lesson...not so much. The girls are split into three groups to preform rock songs.

Group 1 – Nichole, Jenna, Chrystina – "Hit Me With Your Best Shot"

Group 2 - Carrie, Ilisa, Tiffanie – "Piece Of My Heart"

Group 3 – Jamie, Natalie, Charlye – "I Want You To Want Me"

Robin lets the girls know that judging will be based on individual performances and 2 girls will be going home. Natalie finds out that her grandmother passed away. The other girls step up to comfort her. I'm not sure she would have done the same if it had been someone else. Robin invites BlakeMcGrath , from DanceLife and So You Think You Can Dance, to judge the girls in a sexy dance off challenge. LOVE HIM!! They bring in a group of guys to help the girls create and perform a sexy dance routine. Ilisa has a hard time bringing out her sexy. Some of the routines were more slutty than others. The top two girls are Charlye and Chrystina. Chrystina won the challenge and immunity from elimination. Both girls received diamond Hello Kitty necklaces. I'll take one of those necklaces.

Check out the girl's sexy moves during the challenge.

Tiffanie, Charlye, Jenna and Chrystina get into a big argument over the raunchy dancing. I think they are telling them to do this dumb stuff so there is some drama on the show. It looked staged...but if it wasn't...it was just stupid. The next day Jenna decides she doesn’t want to go to rehearsal and is ready to go home. Robin talks her into staying. Jenna isn't going to last much longer with her work ethic. The groups perform decent numbers. Natalie, Ilisa, Jenna and Jamie had the weakest performances overall. Jamie and Ilisa land in the bottom 2…and both of them have to hang up their boas.

See what's going down next week...Natalie's diva moment looks special.

Girlicious Style

This week’s theme was Style and the girls learn disco songs.

Group 1: Chrystina, Tiffanie, Jenna, Carrie – "Dim All The Lights"
Group 2: Charlye, Nichole, Natalie – "Take Your Time (Do It Right)" – on roller-skates
Group 3: Cassandra, Ilisa, Jamie – "Heart of Glass"

Cassandra breaks down during practice because the song is so high she can’t hit it. The girls tell Jenna that she is lazy and needs to practice more on her dancing. Chrystina confronts Robyn about being in the bottom two. Mikey tells the girls they are green and not to let their heads blow up like a balloon. That’s why I love him!!!

Robyn takes the girls for their makeovers. Jamie is upset that she looks too much like a “white girl"…she looked the same (didn't get it). They head to a red carpet event to show off their new looks and impress InTouch Weekly. The winner was Nichole and she was safe from elimination. Check out the groups performing in the video clip below. Group 3 had the worst performance of the night. The bottom 2 girls were Cassandra and Jamie. But Cassandra’s limited vocal range sent her home.

The Girl Has Charisma

This week they have to show Charisma. The girls break into groups with the team leaders representing the best from the last performance:

Group 1: Charlye (leader), Tiffanie, Nichole - “These Boots Are Made For Walkin’”

Group 2: Carrie (leader), Jamie, Alexis, Cassandra - “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”

Group 3: Chrystina (leader), Natalie, Jenna, Ilisa - “Respect"

When the teams start working on their songs, Tiffanie didn’t seem to get the fact that she is over singing. Ilisa talks about her heart disease and is feeling the pressure of being different in the house. Chrystina and Natalie suck up most of the show with their self absorbed ramblings. Robin takes the girls to a listening party for Nicole Scherzinger’s album. What happen to that CD?? The girls next challenge was to perform a Pussycat Dolls song in front of a group of little girls at the party. The kids ripped into their performances. Ilisa and Natalie got mostly good comments from the kids. Natalie was the winner and was exempted from elimination. For some reason Tiffanie thought Natalie won because of her big boobs…and said maybe she should have showed her boobs to win. That Was Dumb!! They were little girls...maybe you need to just dance and sing better.

Ilisa decided to share her story with her house mates. But that didn’t change how Natalie treated her…but when you think about it she treats everyone the same. At elimination, all the teams did a good job…so much so that the judges had to decided by looking at everyone’s individual performances. Jenna, Chrystina, Alexis and Nichole had the weakest performances of the night. The bottom 2 came down to Chrystina and Alexis. But Alexis is the one that had to hang up her boa. Girl, you better go back to school! Next week they are giving the girl’s makeovers…just drop them off at a strip club.

Confidence vs. Bitchy

The girls move into the house and get their first challenge. They are split into three groups of 4:

Group 1: "Holiday"
by Madonna - Ilisa, Tiffanie, Nichole, Natalie

Group 2: "Tearin' Up My Heart" by N'Sync - Carrie, Chrystina, Charlye, Jenna
Group 3: "Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears - Megan, Cassandra, Alexis, Jamie

JC Chasez
drops in on rehearsals to give the girls some advice. Is it just me or are is he becoming a reality show bitch. He really needs to fall back on some of these types of shows. Robin takes the girls to a baseball game to sing the national anthem. They break into groups to see who will perform during the game. Group 2 won the chance to perform...Carrie was the best...so she was safe from elimination this week.

Nichole felt like Natalie sabotaged the group. She probably did...she's trying to send some of those good singers home! Natalie is the bitch of the house (someone has to be the less talented bitch on the show). When I think of the songs they had to sing this week...I didn't think of these songs being hard. But it was painful listening to some of the performances. Megan (photo above) was the first girl to turn in her feather boa and move out of the house.
