Life Lessons from Grey's Anatomy

My favorite line from tonight's Grey's Anatomy (Not Responsible episode) is when the girl in the hospital is arguing with the doctors while standing over her sick boyfriend. Then she looks at Dr. Jackson Avery and says:

"Don't think it's easy, with your gorgeous eyes and white coat, it's insulting."

If only they could have squeezed in a white horse with that...then he would be the Old Spice Guy. The lesson this week is no matter how sick your boyfriend is you still have time to appreciate the hotness of Dr. Avery.

Look-A-Likes: MTV VMA's 2010

When I was watching the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, I noticed a look-a-like I didn't expect. It's Bruno Mars and Liberace. Who would have thought? From the perfect hair to the ring on his finger as he played the piano, it's a if Bruno was playing in an updated movie version about Liberace. Shout out to RapRadar.com for the clip.

Les Is More @ The MTV Movie Awards

Best moment of the 2010 MTV Movie Awards was Tom Cruise as Director Les Grossman from the movie "Tropic Thunder" and Jennifer Lopez doing a dance number. The show was filled with more curse words than any rap awards show ever! Not that it was a good thing...but it did seem like a distraction from the fact the show wasn't as good as I hoped.

Thoughts on Golden Globe Nominations

I know I'm a freak of nature for caring about Golden Globes or ANY award show, but hear me out! The Golden Globes are the one show where the attendees can drink at the table! I'm all for a drunken celebration speech! However this year's nominations leave little to be surprised about. Of course 30 Rock is nominated. Of course Jeremy Piven is nominated. Of course movies that haven't even been released long or even at ALL are nominated -- that's for you Sherlock Holmes. I know some people are up in arms that Sons of Anarchy didn't get any love from the Hollywood Foreign Press, but I am upset that Community got no love from the HFP. I assume that this wonder 30 minutes of comedy lost a spot because of it's older and talented siblings 30 Rock and The Office. Maybe it lost a spot to the network affirmative action that keeps Entourage in the running and saved a special seat for the uniqueness of Glee or family fun of Modern Family. Now to be fair, I love all of those shows, but deep down I wouldn't mind if Community knocked Entourage down a peg. Community deserves a shot at a trophy, and if you haven't watched the show -- you are missing out on one of the funniest 30 minutes on television in 2009.

We all know Alec Baldwin, John Hamm, and Tina Fey are all front runners in their categories. (Although if the Globes take a note from the Emmy's, Fey might not take statue) Let's take a second to talk about Glee. Lea Michele and Matthew Morrison most likely won't win their Best Actor categories but Jane (muthafucking) Lynch should take Best Supporting Actress! For not singing or dancing on the show (exception of a moment in one episode), she can own a scene. So don't fuck it up, Hollywood Foreign Press. You might have nominated Meryl Strep TWICE for Best Female Actor, but show us you got the decisiveness to hook up "Coach Sue" with a statue.

2009 Soul Train Awards - Red Carpet & Winners

The 2009 Soul Train Awards will premiere simultaneously on Centric and BET on Sunday, Nov. 29 @ 9PM EST. The show is hosted by Academy Award nominated actors Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard. Chaka Khan, Charlie Wilson, L.A. Reid and Kenny "Baby Face" Edmonds were honored.

Someone tell me...Where's Don Cornelius? I get he doesn't own the brand anymore...but you would think they would roll him out and have him wave to the people. I hope the new owners do more with the Soul Train brand. Call me if you need some ideas!!

Just when you think the VMAs is going to be another boring show...craziness breaks out.

• Sharkira and Pink show up on the red carpet in the same dress - You know someone is going to get fired over that one.
• Janet Jackson kills it on stage in a tribute to Michael - If you were checking out the performance then you saw Laurie Ann from Making The Band and someone said Chris Judd was dancing too.
• SYTYCD and ABDC alums on the show
  
• Kanye West interrupts Taylor Swift as she was accepting her Best Female Video Award speech - Video below...well until Viacom takes it down again. After that the word was MTV kicked him out.
  
• Boooooing every time someone said Kanye's name
  
• Beyonce winning but let Taylor come back on stage to finish her speech - To bad she didn't take time to thank Beyonce.
• Lady Gaga and all her outfits, her date Kermit the Frog and the bloody performance - SMH....
• Lil Mama popping up in stage at the end of Jay-Z's performance - Just odd...

Kanye West Interrupts Taylor Swift's Speech

Okay so the MTV Video Music Awards seemed extra special this year, and as the resident SYTYCD & ABDC blogger, I have to point out that there were two alums apart of the big night. The most noticable was Mark of SYTYCD season 4. The Bleeding Love routine was played in (Nigel's) top 15 countown episode, re-preformed for the 100th episode, and nominated for an Emmy. Mark also danced on stage with Lady Gaga and even got a solo gyrating session with her. I still have a crush on him. I guess absence does make the heart grow fonder. sigh. The second-- via satellite-- was Jia of Kaba Modern who is apparently on tour with Britney! She was only on screen for a couple of seconds and far to the left, but clearly my love for Kaba Modern runs deep. You can check a compilation of Jia on the tour from devivre10 below. Congrats to Mark and Jia. I'm sure others are doing big things, but these happen to be two people I'm really happy to see gain some success.

ABDC Season 4, Ep 6 VMA Challenge!

Tonight was a sad night for me. I was pretty sure that somehow I wouldn't get my top three, and it's a done deal. The night started off with a group tribute to Michael Jackson. The only people that stood out to me were Michelle of We Are Heroes and Dominique of Rhythm City-- probably because they were in the front. The first crew to dance were We Are Heroes to Vogue by Madonna. It seems like the producers expected Vogue Evolution to make it to this challenge when deciding on the music. The ladies did well. The tut'ed with fans and were pretty clean. However, it always sucks to go first and I couldn't help but to keep thinking about what would Vogue Evolution have done if they made it to this week. Overall this performance seemed to have less attitude than the Stanky Leg performance, but I feel like it is hard when that song is practically token drag queen song. It's not fair to We Are Heroes that my sub-consious expected them to come out like some queens. Safe again this week and the trigger to my unhappiness was the Afroborike was safe. I don't hate them as people or dancers, but their popularity baffles me.

AfroBorike performed I'm A Slave For you by Britney Spears. Overall I was okay with the perfomance. I'll even admit that I liked the performance. I'm not sure if guys were suspended in the actual Britney performance or if they should creativity points for it, but it was a new opening stunt for the show. I'm surprised they even arranged that especially if it was purely AfroBorike's idea. Suspension aside, I liked the performance because it made me think about how memorable that Britney performance was. I could do actually do the Britney mimiced routine with them. So now the question is did I like the AfroBorike's performance or just like Britney's that much?

Finally Massive Monkees and Rhythm City had to battle to stay alive and unfortunately it's not the finale. Massive Monkees put it all out there to Tearin' Up My Heart. I seriously forgot about that perfomance, but OMG it was the hottest routine at the time. This NSYNC routine was one of those routines I wore my VCR out trying to learn. The Monkees started off slow and messed up a little in their straight choerography session but once they got into the stunts, they were going for the win. Cartwheel on the head! WHAT! Rhythm City were tasked with Wall to Wall by Chris Brown. They did a great job. They were clean and had stunts. However, nothing about it made you want to get on your feet like the stunts that Massive Monkees had just pulled off. RC's performance split the judges with JC getting pretty protective of the Bronx crew. I was surprised that JC was so vocal about his love for Rhythm City. In retrospect, I understand Shane's point about them not choegraphing their routine for a battle. At this point all the routines should be a battle routine because you never know if you'll be in the bottom. Plus these performances depend on that lasting image for the viewers. Sadly Rhythm City and the dream of an East Coast crew taking the title had to walk off the stage tonight. It sucks that stunt crews seem to have a one-up on choeography crews, but the real bummer is that I still don't see why AfroBorike is still around. Can anyone explain this to me? YouTube That Shit Award goes to Massive Monkees & NSYNC's Tearin Up My Heart VMA performance. Good luck to Rhythm City. I truly expected you to walk away with the prize. You deserved the chance to win it.

Set Your TiVo: ABDC VMA Challenge

America's Best Dance Crew is down to the final four crews. Be sure to set your TiVo/DVR because ABDC will air at a special time this Sunday (9/13/09) @ 7PM on MTV (right before the VMAs @ 9PM). The crews will do a group performance of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal”. Then for the VMA challenge the crews will perform routes based off legendary VMA performances.

AFROBORIKE - "Slave 4 U" Britney Spears (perfect song for them...hope the routine doesn't get too pornographic)
MASSIVE MONKEES - "Tearing Up My Heart" *NSYNC (should be interesting with JC as a judge)
RHYTHM CITY - "Wall To Wall" Chris Brown (can we say his name now?...but a great dance routine)
WE ARE HEROES - "Vogue" Madonna (wish it was mixed with "Like A Virgin")

BET Awards '09: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

Last night (6/28/09) was the BET Awards/Michael Jackson Tribute. The night was filled with highs and lows. You still have to give it up the BET Staff for doing the best they could in a short amount of time. Shout out to all the people in the GlobalGrind.com chatroom last night (Illmatic, NYShorty, CeeGee2009, Emma, Ahseya_ayesha and everyone else). Very Entertaining!!

Here are a few of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly moments from the show.

THE GOOD

• Janet Jackson coming out to thank the fans on behalf of the family. Thank you Janet we really needing to hear that!! (Video #1)
• Jamie Foxx performing Blame It with T-Pain. Along with special guests Snoop Dogg (still not sure why he was out there) and Travis Barker from Blink 182.
• Jamie Foxx and Martin Lawrence teaming up as Sheneneh and Wanda in Skank Robbers...VERY FUNNY!! (Video #2)
  
• Day 26's performance at the pre-show after winning Best Group.

THE BAD

• Young Money - Drake, Lil Wayne, Baby (Birdman) performance...well what you could hear of it after all the bleeps.
• Keri Hilson's performance of Turning Me Off/Knock You Down.
• Pleasure P/Marcus Cooper running out of breath singing his own song during the pre-show. Not sure if I can call it singing...he just talked most of the lyrics.
  
• Ving Rhames coming out with Tyrese and Taraji P. Henson for a Baby Boy movie flashback that didn't work.

THE UGLY

• Drake, Lil Wayne, Baby (Birdman) for having little girls on stage as they perform Every Girl. Not a good look!!
• The sound guy not have the mics loud enough for the presenters and the person that was doing the bleeps missing most of the words that needed to be bleeped...like Eddie Levert's slip. LIVE TV...Gotta Love It!!
  
• Tiny and Toya promoting their new BET show. They say isn't a Baby Mama show. What else is it?? Picture below of Tiny accepting T.I.'s award for Viewers' Choice and her celebrity look-a-like Miss Piggy. It's the hair.
  

Set Your TiVo: BET Awards '09

Tonight (6/28/09) is the BET Awards @ 8/7c pm. Jamie Foxx will be the host this year. Looking forward to performances from Ne-Yo, Drake, Maxwell, Beyonce and Jay-Z. Can't wait to see what they put together for the Michael Jackson tribute. Heard Chris Brown will be making an appearance...that should be interesting.

Oscar Night Glam

GRAMMYS... Better With Free Drinks!

Did you watch the GRAMMY awards last night? I had the pleasure of seeing the show at the packed Chicago GRAMMY Viewing Party at Hard Rock Cafe. Open bar, free food-- luckily I got a seat! All in all, the show seemed to go pretty quick. I place some of the blame on the open bar, but mostly because they cut out even more awards the telecast. Assuming if you cared enough to watch, you would also just look online to see who actually won stuff. Seriously, who really watched the pre-telecast? After U2's opening performance the show kicked off with Jennifer Hudson winning the first award of the night. Right after Whitney Houston's appearance and shout out to Clive Davis... conspiracy? Punk (real name irrelevant) was in the crowd supporting his wife-to-be. I was happy for Adele as she took home the Best New Artist Award. I wasn't annoyed by the Jonas Brothers' performance with Stevie Wonder. He already let Raven Symone remake the song, so what's another Disney star? Lil Wayne won Best Rap Album as expected and found his peformance choice to be pretty classy and respectable. I think everyone forgets about New Orleans these days? Also Coldplay's love affair with GRAMMY voters is still going strong. I was a little bumbed for Jason Mraz, but almost offended when Paper Planes did not win Record of the Year. Probably the only award/song I actually cared about.

Now that I found my way to talking about M.I.A., I just have to preface that I've never been one to be on team-prego, but I was damn proud/happy/estatic to see M.I.A. rock the stage. I still feel like some hip hop fans don't want to acknowledge her, yet love Swagga Like Us. So I needed everyone to actually see her contribution to the song. On top of that she is ready to give birth-- that's a working mom! I would even give it a YouTube that Shit award, but it's been taken down since last time I looked. Maybe Kanye will put up video blog post for it. It seems there might be some drama behind Chris Brown & Rihanna absence, but the real question should be, where was Beyonce?
