Trailer: Red Tails

Red Tails is the new movie from George Lucas about the Tuskegee Airmen. The movie opens in theaters on Jan. 20, 2012.

I feel a need to go out and support this movie. I always complain about only have Tyler Perry movies...now I have something different. Plus this movie cost over 50 million to make. If it doesn't do well what will that say about future movies with large Africa-American casts. I just wish they were promoting the movie in a way to get people interested. Most of the ads seem like an uninteresting history lesson. But they have an amazing cast that includes heavy hitters like Cuba Gooding Jr. and Terrence Howard. Then some of the best in young black Hollywood - Tristan Wilds (90210), Marcus T. Paulk (Moesha), David Oyelowo (The Help), Elijah Kelly (Hairspray), Michael B. Jordan (All My Children) and Nate Parker (The Secret Life of Bees). I can't leave out Ne-Yo and Method Man. You really don't get the feel of how great the story is and the great cast from the ads. I wish the movie company would have done a more well rounded ad campaign. Maybe they should have waited until Black History Month to release it...then that could have tied into more events that were already scheduled.

This movie has all the makings of any other blockbuster movie (it should be a slam dunk)...hot guys, planes, explosions and based on a true story. What more can you ask for? Posted below is one of the trailers. Don't worry guys...I tried to find a trailer that had lots of explosions. Still looking for one with some shirts off (they have to shower at some point...just kidding...not really).

The Rock In The G.I. Joe Sequel?

Moments ago, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson tweeted out this picture which looks like the artwork for a G.I. Joe sequel. The Rock didn't offer any information other than, "It's official: Call the Pentagon, get me my big ass gun - Rocks a JOE!" We can only wonder which character he's going to play.

Trailer: Fast Five

Fast Five opens in theaters and IMAX on April 29th. I never would have thought there would be this many movies in the franchise, but here we are on number 5. This one has the ultimate line up...Vin Diesel, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Paul Walker and some familiar faces from the previous movies.

Check out the trailer:

Trailer: Meet Monica Velour

Meet Monica Velour opens in theaters April 8th. Check out the trailer below.
A young man meets his dream woman (and isn't the least bit troubled that she's a washed-up porn actress 30 years his senior) in this independent coming-of-age comedy.
It reminds me of The Wrestler but of porn. It's a comedy...so don't feel bad if you laugh.

Trailer: Madea's Big Happy Family

Here is the trailer for the movie "Madea's Big Happy Family" in theaters April 22, 2011. OK...I'm not a big Madea movie fan, but I'm interested in seeing Isaiah Mustafa, The Old Spice Guy. I'm all about supporting his projects. I hope he get a leading man role in his next film. Surprised to Bow Wow (Shad Moss) and Teyana Taylor in this movie but I'm sure their parts are appropriate for their talents. This is the usual Madea comedy...it's suppose to be funny, so Tyler Perry has a lot of room to work with. Who is going to go with me to see this movie?...but I'm picking the theater.

Trailer: The Heart Specialist

If you haven't seen the trailer for The Heart Specialist yet....here is your chance. When I saw the trailer, I thought it looked like a black Grey's Anatomy.

The Heart Specialist is an upcoming romantic comedy film starring Wood Harris, Zoe Saldana, Brian J. White, Marla Gibbs, Method Man, Jasmine Guy, Terrence J, Leon, Ed Asner and Mýa. Yes...they are all in the movie. I was surprised to see actors like Zoe Saldana and Ed Asner in this movie. The music in the trailer has the classic 90's black movie sound. I enjoyed the random plugs (Steve Harvey's book) and pop culture references (Trey Songz). I got a few laughs.

The film will be in theaters everywhere January 14, 2011 (MLK Weekend). Not sure what Dr. King would say about that. (Flashbacks of the Boondocks episode when Dr. King returns.)

Trailer: Little Fockers

Little Fockers is one movie I will definitely go see in the theater. I'm going to wait until the holiday crowd of movie goers get it out of their system first.

Trailer: Faster

Believe it or not, I'm actually interested in going to see Faster. The movie starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson opens in theaters tomorrow (Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010). At least its not a holiday movie. I'm sure I have a few friends that will go just to see The Rock shirtless. You know who you are. I'm in just for the kill'em all aspect of the script. I'm just hoping this doesn't turn out to be The Fast & The Furious with guns.

After 10 years in prison, Driver (Dwayne Johnson) has a singular focus - to avenge the murder of his brother during the botched robbery that led to his imprisonment. Now a free man with a deadly to-do list in hand, he's finally on his mission...but with two men on his trail - veteran cop (Billy Bob Thornton) just days from retirement, and a young egocentric hit-man (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) with a flair for the art of killing and a new found worthy opponent. The hunter is also the hunted. It's a do or die race to the list's finish as the mystery surrounding his brother's murder deepens, and new details emerge along the way hinting that Driver's list may be incomplete.

Look-A-Likes: Man vs. Food vs. Clooney

I was on twitter and saw the profile picture for Man vs Food host Adam Richman (@adamrichman). As soon as I saw it I thought about George Clooney. [Random thought...Remember when George Clooney was on Facts of Life?] Adam is really serving some Clooney in his pic. I think they are both good-looking men in their own right. Let me know what you think.

Is it odd that my favorite food shows are on the Travel Channel? I hope not...because I'm a huge Man vs. Food fan. It's one of those shows you start watching and the next thing you know you have watched 3 hours of other people eating. If you are a fan of Adam, pick up his new book: America the Edible: A Hungry History, from Sea to Dining Sea - By Adam Richman.

Look-A-Likes: Unsung Inspiration

If you haven't had the chance to see Unsung on TV One, then you are missing out on a great show. Recently they aired Unsung: Tammi Terrell. I've heard the amazing and timeless songs from Tammi Terrell but never thought about her story until now. Unsung did a wonderful job with the story. I say that because it made me want to know more about her and listen to the songs with a new found respect. As I watched the show, I kept thinking the Tammi Terrell story would make an amazing movie. It was easy to see who should play Tammi...the perfect person would be Taraji P. Henson. They look so much alike. Two talented women and one incredible story! I would watch.

June is the month for weddings and Lifetime is giving us a Double Wedding. Our favorite set of twins are back on TV with a new movie. Tia and Tamera Mowry from the hit TV show "Sister, Sister" star in the comedy Double Wedding.

They play twins (of course) Deanna and Danielle Warren. One is an attorney and the other is a cake decorator. Both are on the hunt for the perfect guy when Deanna goes on a blind date with a handsome architect Tate Kelly. But some how Tate starts dating Danielle by mistake. Who will end up with their dream man?

Double Wedding

Les Is More @ The MTV Movie Awards

Best moment of the 2010 MTV Movie Awards was Tom Cruise as Director Les Grossman from the movie "Tropic Thunder" and Jennifer Lopez doing a dance number. The show was filled with more curse words than any rap awards show ever! Not that it was a good thing...but it did seem like a distraction from the fact the show wasn't as good as I hoped.

Goodbye To A Legend

Sunday (5/9/10), the world said goodbye to a true legend, Lena Horne. Lena Mary Calhoun Horne died at the age of 92. She was an actress, singer, dancer and civil rights activist. Her career went from the Cotton Club to the Copacabana. She became the first black person to be signed to a major Hollywood contract.

Horne opened the door and inspired generations of entertainers. I remember her from movies like "Cabin In The Sky" and "The Wiz" to television shows like "Sanford and Son" and "A Different World." She transcended time and stayed relevant. Her style and grace will be missed.
