Here's to the career woman!

Honestly the commercials for Cashmere Mafia and the title itself gave me an allergic reaction to the show, but since watching it online. I actually like the show. Being that it shares executive producer Darrin Star with the almost iconic Sex and The City, there are some similarities. However the refreshing difference is that these women actually work. Yes, the women in Sex and The City had jobs, but we all know Carrie had a little too much money, and Miranda & Samantha managed to have too much free time.

Cashmere Mafia does a decent job with balancing the showing of the cast in the office as much as in their respective homes, which is the point of the show. The show follows four women trying to have it all. Mia (Lucy Liu), probably the only actress you know) who just got promoted to publisher over her now ex-fiance; Juliet the working mom/"ice queen" who has to deal with a cheating husband and threatened to get even; Caitlin who has bad luck with men and experiencing her first lesbian relationship; and Zoe the working mother with a supportive husband who seems to always work more than anyone else in the show.

I fell in love with Zoe for the same reasons I love Miranda and Lynette of
Desperate Housewives. Her reaction to her kids making a build-a-bear that has a bluetooth and says it's too busy to talk because its on a conference call- priceless. I was hooked from then on (I believe the bear is in the second episode). This show shares Project Runway's time slot. So for the primitive viewers (like myself) that don't have Tivo. Watch Cashmere Mafia and then watch P. Run. since Bravo immediately re-airs new episodes.

Next week Lucy Liu's character will make out with indie musician and budding novelist Val Emmich
who busted into primetime comedy with a great role in 30 Rock's "Cougars" episode as Tina Fey's young fling. I already expect great comedy from him.
