Dance War: Finale

It's over...really...it's over. Dance War ended its boring strike. After basically re-watching the whole season...we got to watch the groups perform songs they had already done before. Oh yeah...there was a very forgettable performance the groups did with host Drew Lachey. Along the way they announced the new cast for Dancing With The Stars (I'll put that list in a separate post). Each group preformed an original song...which should have happen before the finale. After an extremely long show they finally announced the winner.

Team Bruno
(
Phillip, Zack, Lacey and Kelsey) took home the big win. I hope the winners get something out of this. I know they're getting a recording contract with Hollywood Records...but let's hope they get a good manager and some promotion for the album (if they get that far). If the show was set up differently, I think they could have made a decent pop group out of the people on the show. To everyone at ABC, please don't let this show come back for another season...I don't think we can take it.

Dance War Cuts The Fat

Well...I could have wrote this before the show the ending. It was like watching a badly scripted soap opera. Since the High School Musical Tour (you know some little kids were looking at the TV like who are these people) was performing I thought it might be Broadway night...but this week was Latin music night. They started off the show with the usual group performance. Carrie Ann gives her team a spa day for their hard work. Team Bruno took out time to meet kids with Down syndrome.

Bruno and Carrie Ann were having a love fest over each others teams...so much for the WAR. They went behind-the-scenes of Team Carrie Ann before the second performance. This is were the set up begins. The focus zoomed in on Allysa...Carrie Ann pointed out that Allysa was a weak link on team. Even though the team thanked Allysa for helping them with the dancing after the performance...the writing was on the wall. I think Carrie Ann made up her mind about cutting her long before they lost. Team Bruno was the last to perform...they did "Whine Up" By Kat De Luna...that was a good song for the group.

They announced the winning team: Team Bruno...finally. Bruno dropped to his knees with joy. But then it was time for Carrie Ann to eliminate someone. She was choking up as she picked Allysa and Chris to be in the bottom 2. I feel like the move to put Chris in the bottom was to make sure it looked good when they sent Allysa home. She could out sing at least 3 of the other people on the team. But 6 people in a group...that's a lot...they needed to cut the fat. The look on Allysa's face said it all as Carrie Ann picked Chris. Carrie Ann was crying...Allysa was pushing Chris away...but she still asked the fans to vote for Team Carrie Ann.

Next week is the finale...YES...it will be over. So this is the last time you can vote for your favorite team. They will also announce the new cast for Dancing with the Stars next week. Well...at least we know the winning group will be able to perform on that show.

Another Lose For Bruno

Last night was country music night on Dance War. The teams opened the show with a routine that could have been on Hee-Haw. Well...the costumes could have been. Carrie Ann's team impressed me the least. It was just plain...no fire in either performance. It was like watching puppets spin around on the stage. It's not the kids fault...It's the coach's fault. Bruno's team performed "These Boots Are Made For Walking" injected with "Walk It Out"...Carrie Ann called it bitting. I call it waking me up for 30 seconds.

They introduced the newest Bachelor...Matt Grant. He's a 27 year old, global financier from London. He didn't seem very interesting...but I'm sure someone was drooling. Bruno's team lost the vote again. So another member of his team had to go home. The bottom 2 were Tony and Zack. Tony was eliminated this week. If this keeps up Bruno will end up with a solo artist. The show was just too long...I was so bored.

Next week is the cast of High School Musical (ABC = Disney) will perform. I guess that means Broadway Night...like we haven't had Broadway Night...every night of the show. Oh the joy!!

Dance Wars: Motown Night

It was Motown night on Dance Wars. I thought I was watching the Grease reality show. Apparently, the winner of the show will get a record deal with Hollywood Records. That should be interesting.

This week the performances got a little better...well the dancing part. The vocals are not there yet. Not a good sign for a singing group. Bruno's had the girls sing the first song with the boys as background dancers. Then the second performance the guys did the majority of the singing with some nice use of props. Carrie Ann's said they didn't have any balance. She was on point with the critic but her team wasn't any better.

Carrie Ann's team incorporated some stepping in the first number which gave the old R&B song an updated touch. This week Chris's mic worked, so we could hear him sing. The second song had the girls singing...not a good thing. Their outfits gave me flashbacks of Solid Gold.

They waited until the very end of the show to kick the first person off. Carrie Ann's team won this weeks vote. So, Bruno had to put up 2 people for elimination. The bottom 2 were Charity and Kelsey. They had a sing off for the last spot on the team. Bruno ultimately eliminated Charity this week.

Next week country recording artist Taylor Swift will perform on the show. I guess that means it will be country music next week...uhhhhh.

Sing Or Dance...Pick One

This week the teams had their first official performances as Team Carrie Ann and Team Bruno. I don't know who I feel more sorry for the poor kids on the show or the rest of us for watching. The songs got a little better...but not that much. It was Pop Music Week which gave us songs from the Spice Girls, Chris Brown and Rihanna.

For some reason they made us basically re-watch the last show...flashbacks of them picking the groups injected with commentary from the contestants and judges (boring). They also gave us a look that the rehearsals (turn to American Gladiators to keep you awake). The singing is mediocre
and the dancing is mediocre. You would think the dancing would at least be on point. The show was LIVE...and there were issues with the sound and the camera work. I really felt bad for Chris (Team Carrie Ann) because no one heard him sing during one of the performances...at least he kept singing.

I felt Carrie Ann's team would be better suited as a kiddie group like Hi-5 or the Wiggles. They should have been sing the ABC's to 5 year-old's. Bruno's Team should be in the chorus line of a Broadway show. Don't get me wrong...the contestants have talent (I blame Carrie Ann and Bruno). I was under the impression that the they were suppose to more like a triple threat. I was hoping for people that could be the best singers from American Idol and could be the best dancers from So You Think You Can Dance rolled into one..so my expectations are HIGH. I think I would like it more if the format was different.

The faith of the teams depend on the views votes. The losing team has to send someone home next week.

Team Work

The finalists had to audition for Carrie Ann (looking very J.Lo) and Bruno.

After some OK singing and dancing from the final 14 contestants...the teams were chosen. One guy and one girl were sent home this week.

Here are the teams...

Team Carrie Ann:
Bradley, Allysa, Chris, Marqis, Mariel, Elizabeth

Team Bruno:
Tony, Lacey, Zack, Phillip, Charity, Kelsey

Next week the viewers vote for their favorite team. I hope the songs get better!!

Just Dance

Last night was the first episode of Dance War. As I watched it, I kept thinking it reminded me of something. Then one of the guys came out to do his solo audition...Black Guy - Braids - Good Singer - Amazing Dancer. Then I knew what I was watching...FAME. The guy was Leroy (Gene Anthony Ray played Leroy on Fame) reincarnated. Before I could get the words out of my mouth, Bruno and Carrie Ann were cosigning with me. I'm good!! But he didn't make the final cut in L.A. (his name wasn't Leroy).

After sitting through bad singers, good singers, bad dancers, good dancers and various strange stuff in between we got a look at the finalists. They ended the live portion of the show with a group performance. I thought we would see who made which team...but we didn't. If you think back to the FAME reality show, that is want this show reminds me of. Hopefully this show won't end up like that reality show. They all seem like better dancers then singers...I wish they were just dancing.

Set Your TiVO - Dance War

Monday, Jan. 7
th at 8/7C on ABC – Hosted by Drew Lachey

You love them as judges on Dancing with the Stars...Now they have a new show. Bruno (NOT the older, gray haired one) and Carrie Ann (NOT the screaming lady from So You Think You Can Dance) will each create a team that can sing and dance. Not sure how good they will be at picking singers?? But we will see....

The views will vote for their favorite team each week. The captain of the losing team will have to put someone from their team up for elimination. At the end of the season, the winning team will go on tour as the opening act for a major artist...it better be someone good.
