Estelle Getty, best known for her role as Sophia Petrillo on the Golden Girls, died today (July 22, 2008) at the age of 84. The Emmy and Golden Globe winning actor passed away at her L.A. home from natural causes. She was only 3 days way from her 85th birthday. Estelle had Lewy Body Dementia. Lewy Body symptoms are very similar to both Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. She was an amazing actor and will live on in all our hearts.
