Art On The Runway

With 5 designers left the next challenge is all about finding inspiration from a work of art. Tim takes the designers to The Metropolitan Museum of Art. They were give 3 exhibits to choose an inspiration from: The Greek & Roman scripture courtyard, the European painting wing and the Temple of Dendur. Of course, Rami went with a Greek image (more draping).

Christian: Don Andrew De Andrade Y La Cal by Bartolome Esteban Murillo (CIRCA
1665)
Sweet P: Peacocks by Melchior D` Hondecoeter (1683)
Rami: Marble Statute of Aphrodite - Kallimachos (1st-2nd Century AD)
Chris:
Marie Françoise de La Cropte de St. Abre, Marquise d'Argence by Jean Marc Nattier (1685-1766)
Jillian:Scenes From The Story Of The Argonauts by Unknown Master of The Argonauts (CIRCA 1465)

The designers are under the impression that only 3 designers are going to fashion week. Everyone is putting a lot into their outfits. Sweet P's model is late so she can't get the fitting done. Tim brings in Collier Strong, Consulting Makeup Artist for L'Oréal Paris, to create a look for the models. While the other designers are working...Chris takes a nap. Tim goes looking for Chris and wakes him up so he can see the outfit...he was worried about the look. With only 2 hours left Sweet P's model finally shows up.

This weeks special guest judge was Roberto Cavalli. I would have freaked out with him judging...plus I probably wouldn't be able to understand him. Christian's outfit was amazing...and he won the runway. Chris' outfit reminded the judges of the outfit he made with Christian. Jillian's outfit was great and Cavalli even wanted her to work with him. They told Sweet P that she should have put more fantasy into the dress. Rami dress was just to predictable for the judges.

The designers that will compete at Bryant Park will be Christian and Jillian. The judges couldn't decide between Rami and Chris so they are both IN...but with a catch. Both will do collections and show the judges their 3 strongest looks before Fashion Week. The winner will go on to compete in the finals. So that leaves Sweet P to be sent home...but she still got to show at Fashion Week and that's great!!
