The 2008 Miss Universe is Miss Venezuela Dayana Mendoza. Congratulations to the 22 year-old beauty wants to work in Interior Design and advertising. Best National Costume award went to Miss Thailand Gavintra Phothak. Miss Congeniality was Miss El Salvador Rebeca Moreno. After watching the pageant, I really felt like pulling out a map and start matching all the girls to their countries. That's one was to learn geography. The moment that I will most remember isn't the girl that won but when Miss USA Crystle Stewart fell during the evening gown part (see clip below). Yes, for the second year Miss USA has ended up on the floor during the Miss Universe pageant. 2007 Miss USA Rachel Smith had the same misfortune. Is there a curse? Our suggestion for next year is flats and a short dress. Crystle did a good job recovering from the fall. I really think she had a good shot up until that moment. It must be really hard knowing she is going to have to live in the same apartment with the new Miss Universe. Miss Venezuela is going to have the big crown and the bigger room. Then you have to go everywhere together...that sucks. See this would have made a good season of Pageant Place.
