When Judges Stop Being Nice, And Start Getting Real

It's down to the top 6 couples on So You Think You Can Dance. This is the last week the judges are tasked with kicking dancers off the show. Last night Mia Michaels probably said it best when she honestly told Courtney and Gev that they aren't the strongest dancers on the show, but they had a good night. Kind of harsh, but I agree. I would have to say they had the best night out of all the couples. At the end of the show I didn't feel like they failed at something. I started to like Courtney after seeing their hip hop routine last week. I never expected her to get down in a jersey and Tims. However this week was the first time Mark and Joshua, my two favorite male dancers this season, got some negative-ish critique. It's the top six- the competition is getting serious, so it is bound to happen. On a brighter note, the judges are still in love with Chelsea H. and Katee. Also for the Bollywood fans, last night was the show's first Bollywood routine danced by Joshua and Katee.

The judges ripped into Comfort and Thayne for not having enough chemistry in both routines. It sucks to admit, but it might be time for them to bow out. Twitch and Kherington seemed to take turns being the weaker half, but the judges took it easy on Kherington after her krumping routine. She had it in the beginning but she did lose it before the end. Is it better to have it half of the routine than not at all? Props to Lil' C for giving the show a tougher routine. I felt really sorry for Jessica last night. She had to take some harsh words from Mia after their quickstep routine. She straight up said Will looked tired for carrying Jessica. I assume throughout the competition and not literally. This seemed really harsh after the judges finally praised Jessica after Tyce DiOrio's Garden of Eden inspired, contemporary routine.

Next week will be the top 10, meaning everyone from that point on will go on this season's tour, does a solo, two routines, new partner for the week, and the (male and female) dancers with the lowest votes are sent home. Watch tonight's show at 9/8 central to see who gets voted off.
