Awkward!

Last night was the Janet Jackson challenge on America's Best Dance Crew. Not going to lie- it was the most awkward of episodes. Lots of girl on girl, people used dances from all Janet videos-- not just the song they were given, Shane vs. Lil Mama finally got slightly vocal, Boogie Bots were safe, and why the hell did they choose Black Cat-- the song everyone skips on her best of CD.

Fanny Pak danced to All Night (Don't Stop). For the 12 people that saw the video, you know that this song is an orgy-- which is exactly what Fanny Pak gave it. So I think they did better than people realize or remembered before voting ended. Hopefully, Katy Perry hasn't created a girl on girl backlash t hat will hurt Fanny Pak. Shane also said he would like to see the guys to dance like guys. Hello, its Janet week! That's how her guys dance. Supreme Soul danced to Nasty. For those catching the replay, this is where Shane and Lil Mama have their tit-for-tat. As for the performance, it was definitely weaker than their Party Like A Rock Star. Boogie Bots danced to Control. The only part I remember was the ending pose of the evolution of man image. So I wasn't that entertained by them. SoReal was the best of the night, but even so it wouldn't make my best-of-reel for this season. They danced to I Get Lonely. The girls were afraid of being too provocative, but they brought some fire, whip cream, and more girl on girl-- but not as much as Fanny Pak.

Super Cr3w and ASIID (photo from MTV.com) found their way to the bottom 2. Super Cr3w had Black Cat. Horrible song choice, especially given all the good songs Janet has in her catalogue. They did their thing, but it still wasn't as good as their past work on the show. Honestly, I kind of laughed that Super Cr3w were shocked that their dancing isn't referred to as choreographed. I always kind of thought that issue between b-boying and the rest of the dance world was a given. One that should not be there, but it has been around for a while. So why be shocked. ASIID danced to If- one of my favorites. They even did their opening blindfolded-- uh... Joey with the disability! Sadly it wasn't enough to save them. The Youtube That Shit award goes to SoReal Cru! You can watch their performance and more on MTV's official site. I'm still a little salty that All For You and Alright wasn't one of the songs picked for the challenge. Those videos had a lot of dance in them, and are 20 times better than Black Cat.
