LXD Redifines Dancers As Superheroes!

The
LXD (League of Extraordinary Dancers) has its own web series on Hulu! If you love dancing and spectacles. This is more than both! It looks like Check out LXD's peformance on SYTYCD from last year. So far two episodes have been uploaded and new episodes are due every Wednesday until the end of Summer. The LXD series is directed by Jon Chu (Step Up 2 & Step Up 3D) and features LXD members in a unraveling good vs evil plot that could potentially rival NBC's Heroes. It's sophisticated and puts the league and dance on a nice platform that I truly find exciting. I repeat this isn't a backyard web series.

The LXD series has a pretense that great dancing equates superhuman abilities, which will ruin the whole show if you can't get on board. As comic book head, I'll admit took me more than half of the first episode to get on board myself. Once the "bad guy" was introduced and the LXD was hinted to be this elite-destiny-bound squad, my inner fan boy was pleased. Even if there are no fireballs and telekinetic throw downs, this is where comic book and dance fans intersect. So far Lil C and Harry Shum Jr. (known as "Other Asian" to fellow Gleeks) haven't shown up, but I can't wait. I don't know if I want to go home just to watch Justice Leauge or tonight's episode of SYTYCD.

Even More For The Beat Freaks Fan

I had no idea I was such a fan of the Beat Freaks. For those that don't stalk hip hop dancers like I do, Rino and Maryss as a duo go by the name GEMINIZ. I don't know why, but out of pure genius and collaboration created a music video for their stab at Kris Kross's "Jump." Drop them some love on their Youtube Channel -- TheGeminizTV. I need to see these ladies live. Seriously my trip to LA might have to work around their schedule. This whole time I thought it would be based on Chelsea Lately tickets.

So You Think You Can Dance - Top 9 perform + results

So You Think You Can Dance was good this week. Overall I think the contestants were stronger this week, which left me with a sense of optimism for a change. On the performance show, I think Ashley was the strongest girl of the night. I understand that she was a little bummed with getting Contemporary (again), but it was so much better than her first week on the show. She definitely gave the viewers a reason to vote for her. The judges tried to make it clear that Jose and Kent need to figure out how to not coast on the strengths of their personalities. The clear showstopper of the night was the collaboration of Alex, NappyTabs, and Twitch! I got such a dance-boner from that routine. I already like Alex, but now I like him more. Keeping up with Twitch is just... beastly! I'm glad they broke the opposite gender wall (usually reserved for finale week) because I think the show could benefit from the non-romantic/lust stories that choreographers can tell with the same gender. Last night the show said goodbye to Melinda as Billy and Robert joined her in the bottom three. I think it's a little silly why Robert is in the bottom and Kent and Jose were safe. What's really going on America? Are we looking at the same dude?

I don't want to post this without permission, but you should check out the greatness that NappyTabs, Alex, and Twitch created this week.
