B-Boys on the Movie Screen

Planet B-Boy, a documentary I was actually excited to see, finally came to Chicago this weekend. In a sentence, I loved it. Time-Out Chicago didn't, but I don't know what they were smoking. This movie follows B-Boy crews from USA, South Korea, Japan, and France on their way to the Battle Of The Year (a.k.a. BOTY if you are searching on YouTube) championships in Germany. This movie focuses on the people within the crews, what drives them to Battle Of The Year, and what being a b-boy means for them. Even though I've seen some of these crews' videos on YouTube over a year ago, this movie does a great job of putting a face and voice to the b-boys who usually only let their skills do the talking. Since it's a documentary, certain topics, personal views, and stereotypes come out that a close-minded viewer won't get past. Yes, France has some issues with Americans. Yes, Korea has history with Japan. Yes, Japanese culture is not one for public displays of affection. You can thank the J-Crew dressed couple in front of me for the warnings.

I have to admit not much of the actual BOTY is shown, BUT it's about the people as artists. Years of B-boying on streets, low-paying part-time jobs, and (in most cases) family struggle have gotten them to 6 minutes to show the B-Boy world what they can do. On top of that the prize money is only $3,000 split amongst 4 prizes! It's really not about the money. In short, I loved the movie. I want the DVD, and I justified my desires to go to Osaka. If you are intregued by breaking and have a tolerance for subtitles, go see this movie. Click here to see if the movie is coming to a theater near you.

Fake Is The New Real

I spend most of my time watching, talking and blogging about reality TV. My newest guilty pleasure is "The Hills". I never watched "Laguna Beach" when it was on and I barely watched "The Hills" until this season. From the moment the trailer came out, I felt compelled to watch the 20-something drama. Thank goodness I wasn't the only person tuning in. According to the post from Sensation, "The Hills" premiere averaged over 4.7 million viewers. I think it was the fact that they were heading to Paris and that sucked me in. Ooh La La!

The Rock of Love Tattoo Jinx

Bret invites the families for a visit…Ambre’s Dad, Destiney’s Mom & Dad and Daisy’s Ex-boyfriend’s Sister (yeah?). I wish her uncle would've showed up. Daisy has the first date and of course Bret wants to know more about the situation with the Ex again.

Bret finds out that Destiney’s father loves bikes and has cancer with only 6 months to live. He spends the afternoon with Destiney’s and her parents riding motorcycles with a stop at a tattoo parlor. Destiney gets the show logo tattooed on the back of her neck (at least it wasn't his name). Same spot as Heather's tattoo.

Bret takes Ambre and her father to get Sushi. At dinner, Bret asks what’s up with her lying about her real age (37). I think he would've gave her the boot if he knew earlier. After the families leave…the girls start getting things off their chest. Destiney tells them she isn’t ready to give her heart to Bret...yet. Daisy and Ambre feel like they are already in love with him. At elimination, the girls confront Destiney for not being in love with Bret. I knew that was going to come back to bit her in the ass. He lets Destiney go…Bret was crying as Destiney left. From now on...tattoos are bad luck charms if you are dating Bret Michaels. He lets the final 2 girls know that they are jetting away to Cancun. Nice...cheap...but Nice!!

The show was dedicated to the memory of Destiney’s father Tommy Moore. Much love to Destiney and her family.

Lost moments from the sesaon (a recap show) will air Thursday, April 10.

Holly Kiser: Make Me A Supermodel Winner

Holly Kiser is the first winner of Make Me A Supermodel.

We said they should just give her the money. I think she was the right person to win. All of the top 4 shouldn't have a problem getting signed. I'm sure New York Model Management has the rights to sign them before anyone else can. If they are smart they will snatch up their model
protégés.

See what Holly had to say i
n her model diary and check out her pics from the season. Check out an interview with Holly at BuddyTV.com. Here are a couple of my favorite pictures from Holly's portfolio.

Nail Polish For A Man...

I love this clip from Celebrity Apprentice where Trace Adkins and Lennox Lewis have to go buy black nail polish for the Backstreet Boys. This clip just doesn't get old. I love watching Trace's face as he tries to comprehend buying nail polish for a man.

Cartoon Flashback - New Kids On The Block

For all the New Kids On The Block fans...Remember the cartoon. I was watching it on YouTube and decided to put it up. This was episode called "Sheikh of My Dreams." Jordan is trying to find a girl to like him for who he is and not because he's in NKOTB. Funny...I actually remember this one. I use to think it was so cool the way they mixed concert footage in with the cartoon. Anyway I posted all 3 parts to save time in case you want to watch the whole show.

NKOTB...I'll be loving you forever!!

Sheikh of My Dreams (New Kids On The Block)

Part 2 - Sheikh of My Dreams (New Kids On The Block)

Part 3 - Sheikh of My Dreams (New Kids On The Block)

NKOTB!! New Kids Take Over 'Today Show'

YAAAYYY!!! New Kids On The Block is Back!!!

Ok...I may not want to stand outside in the rain but I'm still one of their biggest fans. I rocked the big buttons on my denim jacket back in the day. They have a new CD coming out and will be back on The Today Show to perform on May 16. I'm a little excited right now...if you can't tell. Check out the video of them on the Today Show. They are looking pretty good...gotta find those buttons!!

Day 26 Takes #1 Spot

The guys of Day 26 have their first #1 CD. I'm sure this caused some problems between the competing group...because they bumped label mates Danity Kane from the top spot. Don't worry about Danity Kane they still out sold the guys during the first week.

Who's CD do you like better? I like them both...waiting on Donnie's CD to drop before say anything else. I'm I the only person that doesn't think about Justin when I hear him sing?

Set Your TiVO - Step It Up & Dance

Step It Up & Dance

Starts Tonight - April 3 @ 11 PM EST on Bravo

"Step It Up & Dance" is a reality competition series where contestants will learn what it takes to make it big in the cutthroat dance industry. Elizabeth Berkley, from Saved By The Bell, will serve as host for the show. The winner will receive $100,000.

Another Model Sinks

The models do go-sees in teams. Whitney got good comments from the designers...but she is a plus-size model. They would never book her because they use size 2's. Again...why do they put the plus-size model through this. But she did great and looked at it as an opportunity. My girl Stacy Ann won the go-see challenge for her team (Dominique, Whitney and Claire). They won a Seventeen magazine photo shoot.

Mr. J had the girl taking photos laying in water. Clarie doesn't follow Mr. J's instructions and hits her head...causing her to take a break before doing the shoot. This weeks CoverGirl of the week was Katarzyna. I was surprised...but I wasn't surprised to see Clarie and Lauren in the bottom two. In the end Claire was sent home.

Hell's Kitchen Is Back

Last night was the first episode of Hell's Kitchen. This time the winner will become the executive chef of Gordon Ramsay's new restaurant The London West Hollywood in L.A. So you know he is going to give them HELL!! The first person to be sent home was Dominic, the stay at home dad. I would have sent home Jason...but he wasn't in the bottom 2. Oh well...there is always next week.

Below is a clip from the opening of the show that shows old and new contestants. Check out some of great flip outs of Gordon Ramsay. It will give you something to look forward too.

Fresh Meat!!

The new girls move into the house...without a warm welcome from Flav's current women. The old girls ban together to try and get the new girls out of the house. The women are asked to put on a Hip Hopera about Flav's life. The winners got a date with him at the race track. The new girls in the house were giving the task of giving out an immunity clock to keep one girl safe from elimination. They chose Thing 2 causing Flav to split the twins for the first time. Now that was smart!! At elimination it gets down to Hotlanta and Prance. It was Prance's "Too hot for TV" rap plus the fact the old girls turned on her...that got her sent home.

Flav's Love Connections (Winners of the date):
Sinceer
Prototype

Crazy Alert:

Hotlanta - She was drinking the whole time

Eliminated:
Prancer

The New Girls:
Luscious D
Prototype
Tree
Black

What do you think about them?

Party Like Your On 'Sex And The City'

With the Sex and The City Movie getting closer to the release date, ‘Destination on Location’ travel company is offering a $24,000 'Sex and the City' Tour in New York. Seems like a reasonable price ...right?

Eight to 12 women at a time would enter the city for the five-night recreation of everything Samantha, Charlotte, Miranda and Carrie would do.

Wondering what you get for that price...

  • Attend the May 27 movie premiere
  • Spa treatments, manicures and pedicures
  • Limo ride to the Plaza Athenee hotel (where the next-to-last episode of the show was filmed)
  • Exclusive shopping trip and cocktail party at Jimmy Choo
  • Brunch at Cafeteria on Seventh Ave.
  • "Perfect Saturday" of activities that each character might enjoy
Sounds like BIG fun!!
